The converter is supplied in a black plastic enclosure complete with a 1A 12V dc power supply.

The 455-482 USB comms converter is supplied in a black plastic enclosure. It does not require a power supply.

The 455-477 comms converter connects the PC comport (RS232) to the Net2 dataline (RS485). The converter is supplied in a black plastic enclosure complete with a 1A 12V dc power supply. The maximum length for a RS485 dataline is 1km. Using a repeater on the dataline allows it to be extended further. Each repeater extends the maximum overall dataline length by 1km. A maximum of five repeaters can be used on a single dataline.The repeater can also be used to allow branching of the dataline. Where the repeater is installed the dataline may be continued in two directions if required (see illustration below). For some applications this will reduce complexity and save on cable. The Net2 485 TCP/IP Ethernet interface allows communication between the Net2 server PC and control units across a TCP/IP Ethernet network. Where a PC network already exists this can be a very convenient solution. A single Net2 system can comprise of up to 50 datalines each connecting to the PC network using a 485 TCP/IP interface (v4.07 and above). This reader allows any phone to be used as a Net2 token for access control. Typical uses include; opening gates/car park barriers, remote clocking in/out, securing communal entrances or infrequently visited sites, switching power on/off and remotely opening doors from anywhere. Like any other Paxton token, if the phone is lost or stolen it can be set to "No Access", "Lost" or simply deleted from the Net2 system.
